Ideal social platforms to target each age group

Different generations tend to favor different social media channels.

But one channel will give you a broad reach across all age groups – and genders.

What is it?

Check out these charts from Pew Research Center’s 2024 Social Media Fact Sheet:

The numbers represent the percentage of U.S. adults who say they every use a specific channel.

And YouTube outperforms other channels across the board.

But there’s another interesting finding here.

Ask young people if they use Facebook, and you may get eyerolls and hear that “Facebook is for old people.”

But these numbers paint a different picture.

In fact, Facebook is more popular than TikTok among the 18-29 age group.

This shows how important it is to know your target audience, and where they spend their time online.

People may lie, but data doesn’t.

Cheers,

Neil
