The Newsletter Advice I Give Again and Again


Five years ago, I started asking every new Inbox Collective reader, “What’s the biggest challenge you’re facing with your newsletter?” I reply to everyone who writes back to me — as of this moment, I’ve responded to 2,683 of you.

And over the course of five years, I’ve been asked a lot of the same questions:
  • How do I decide what to focus on with my newsletter?
  • What should I do when I feel stuck with my newsletter?
  • What do I need to know about deliverability?
  • Why aren’t more readers signing up for my newsletter?
  • How do I attract new sponsors?
So today, I’m sharing my best advice to those questions — plus a few dozen more.
Here’s my advice →
Maybe you’re not familiar with GetResponse — it’s an email platform aimed at marketers, solopreneurs, non-profits, and small business owners. So I’ll throw out a few stats for you:

8 billion — The number of emails GetResponse delivered last year.
400,000 — The number of customers they have (in more than 160 countries around the globe).
