The crypto markets were extremely volatile again this week, which seems to be the norm these days. Be careful when trading, especially with futures!

Gamescom 2024 was a success, with numerous web3 games putting in appearances with booths and presentations. And while full mainstream adoption isn’t here yet, it gets closer month by month!

Unfortunately, one of the biggest movers towards mainstream adoption of web3 technology, Telegram, took a hit this week as the CEO was arrested and charged in France! More on this event further down the newsletter.

This is just the first tournament scheduled. PlayToEarn will continue to host more tournaments in the future, celebrating the world of blockchain gaming!

Telegram CEO Arrested; Privacy the main conflict point 👮

The biggest news in the tech world this week as the arrest of Pavel Durov, CEO of Telegram. He was arrested in France and is now out on bail awaiting trial. Basically, Pavel Durov is being charged with aiding criminals and other such charges related to the fact the he refused to give French authorities access to private user data from the Telegram platform. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

This arrest represents another battle in the ongoing fight between privacy and governmental authority. Finding a middle ground between the extremists in either direction will likely be a constant and ongoing struggle for some time to come.

And though this arrest could eventually lead to Telegram being banned in France or even the entire EU, that hasn’t seemed to phase most Telegram users. Nor has it slowed the continued rise of web3 gaming on Telegram.

In one example, GOAT Gaming launched their Telegram app just recently, and in the first week, saw over 100k active users and over a million on-chain transactions! It certainly doesn’t feel like Tonchain is going away anytime soon!

Latest Play to Earn and Play to Airdrop News🪂

Things have slowed down a little as summer in the north comes to a close, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do. Here are some play and earn opportunities available right now!

The Forgotten Runiverse open beta runs through September 7th, giving players a chance to try out the game and mint items as NFTs as well!

Call of the Voyd Genesis Voyd Heart NFT sale hasn’t been as active as many recent gaming NFT sales, but that means there is still a chance to pick up one of these Genesis NFTs for ~$30 in IMX tokens. The sale ends in 30 days.
