As some of you know, I’m on the growth team at Product Hunt (which is probably the coolest job ever). What you may not realize is that I’ve been browsing Product Hunt nearly daily for over seven years, learning about the coolest new products. It’s kept me ahead of the curve on new technology, allowed me to spot markets that weren’t yet obvious, and, candidly, has been an amazing source of guest flow for my podcast, Forward Thinking Founders.

Because it’s had such a big impact on my life by simply scanning the site every day for new things, I’m going to try a little experiment with my personal newsletter. I’m going to orient it toward people who want to see around corners—people who want to know what’s coming months or even years in advance. I want to write for those who are curious about what the future holds, so they can take action with that knowledge.

I’ll start sharing my favorite products on Product Hunt. I’ll explain why I’m personally interested in each product and why I think it has the potential to impact the world, based on what I know about the market. I’ll aim to do this every single day I find at least one product I think is genuinely interesting. Why daily? Because it takes consistent effort to think critically about technologies, markets, and the people shaping them in order to recognize the patterns shaping the world. Once you recognize patterns, you can plan for them. If you plan for them, you can benefit from them. And eventually, you can even create them. So, are you ready? Let’s start… now.

What I Like

Candidly, I love this product and knew about it before the launch. In fact, I hunted the product on Product Hunt for their launch day. I like it because I’m actually a customer, too. I bought one of these books for my stepdad’s birthday a few weeks ago, and it’s one of the most thoughtful user experiences I’ve ever seen. It’s hard to make an onboarding experience feel effortless—especially when the onboarding involves bringing someone else into the loop. But Remento executed this flawlessly.

What It Implies

Writing a book is a tall order. Honestly, doing anything creative is a tall order. Yet, with the assistance of AI, the barriers come down. This is already clear when it comes to our own creative work, but what about how we collaborate with others, with AI in the loop? What about gifting or philanthropy? AI is going to make a ton of people a lot of money, but what else will it make more accessible? Happiness? Childhood memories? The preservation of a certain feeling in a specific location, even when across the world? I think Remento offers a glimpse of what AI could look like after the hype cycle fades—and I think their launch success today supports that.
