Since the summer, AD PRO has kept its finger on the pulse of color predictions. Overall, the vibe right now is down to earth, whether it takes the form of Behr’s rosewood Rumors or Sherwin-Williams’s bouquet of botanical hues. Pantone’s recent announcement of Mocha Mousse underlined the trend, wrapping up 2025’s Color of the Year soothsaying in a cozy, toasted hug. Is this paint’s way of telling us to touch grass?

Still, among the design demi-monde, bright pigments abound. You may remember Hannah Martin’s story on Hella Jongerius from AD’s October issue—the Dutch design star is renowned for material braiding, beads, and upcycling. At Salon 94 in New York City, her Roped Beings show closes next week. Catch the neon textiles and watery jades that drench her Angry Animals series while you can. A bit further downtown, the aptly named Colorama is on at Superhouse. On view through January 11, it presents work from furniture legends Tom Loeser and Wendy Maruyama. There, the duo’s expertise in traditional woodworking is only enhanced with bright grids and spirals of azure, scarlet, and sunny yellow. And as we reported from Miami, bright color was everywhere this year, whether it was in the Bottega Veneta beanbag chairs finally presented to the public, or in the pastel-hued River Inn houses that hosted Alcova. Though many still opt for interiors that are subdued and sophisticated—some argue it’s best for our health!—the gallery world remains as colorful as ever.
