Emboldening the Bath

Marble, marble, everywhere, and every drop is chic. According to AD100 designer Jake Arnold, “material drenching”—that is, covering floors, walls, and countertops in a single material—is one of the defining looks of today’s bathrooms. Per our 2025 trend report, you should expect to see a lot more of it, whether it takes the form of tadelakt, tile, or yes, marble. But the bathroom is only one of the many places that designers are choosing to go all-in on head-to-toe looks: Earlier this year, pros weighed in on the enduring appeal of all-red rooms; we’ve been documenting allover pattern since at least last spring; and wood-paneled rooms are back, baby. (Forget those creepy, smoke-stained relics of the ’70s—these are totally fresh.) For certain materials, like unusual stones or marbles, “drenching” can be a pricey endeavor (and may not be for every client), but the finished product is one-of-a-kind. It's hard to argue with results!
