[SaaS Club] Overcoming the Challenges of a Female Founded SaaS Startup

Hey, this is Omer...

Here's the latest SaaS Club update...

Podcast
We just published the latest episode of The SaaS Podcast:

Overcoming the Challenges of a Female Founded SaaS Startup
Rachel Liaw, co-founder, and CEO of Fuse Inventory a SaaS inventory planning solution that helps brands scale their supply chain.

In this interview we talk about:

  • What the Rachel and her co-founder (Bridget) did when they realized that they'd been selling to the wrong type of customers who were going to churn, and accounted for about 50% of their revenue.
  • We explore how they've used cold-email as the primary marketing tactic to find and acquire customers. And we discuss how they managed to get a 20% response rate from cold email.
  • We discuss how difficult it was for them as two female founders to raise funding and how they kept hearing that they didn't have what it took to be successful - it took an entire year for them to raise money.
  • We talk about Rachel's personal challenges, how constantly heard that she wasn't good enough, and how she overcame those challenges.

It's a great story about a SaaS startup. But I think it's an even more interesting story about a female founder who's faced a ton of challenges and how she's overcome them and learned to believe in herself.

Quote of the Week
Here's the quote of the week - it's about believing in yourself....

"To be a champ, you have to believe in yourself when no one else will."
-- Sugar Ray Robinson

Book of the Week
This weeks' recommendation is "The Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream" by Paulo Coelho. Here's a brief blurb about it:

"Paulo Coelho's masterpiece tells the mystical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure. His quest will lead him to riches far different—and far more satisfying—than he ever imagined. Santiago's journey teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, of recognizing opportunity and learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, most importantly, to follow our dreams."
