Hello,

Well, it's been another week spent indoors but hopefully – after recent news – we're all feel a little more optimistic about the future.

We marked six months of The Forty-Five this week (🥳). We're so proud of all the stories we've been able to tell so far. If you like what we do, it would be ace if you'd consider supporting us with a monthly subscription. The money will be used to directly commission more original editorial from the amazingly talented womxn in our creative network. Here's what's been keeping them busy this week.
A COVER STORY
Before lockdown, we spent a day at the seaside with Marika Hackman for our latest cover story. She releases her new 'Covers' album today, featuring reimaginings of tracks by Grimes, The Shins, Beyoncé and more. Eve Barlow hears the story behind every song. Photos by FIona Garden.
DOJA BREAKS THE INTERNET
Doja Cat's performance at the EMAs on Sunday was a big look! The 'Say So' singer channelled Evanescence's Amy Lee in a nu-metal-inspired performance of her TikTok mega hit. For this week's column, Jenessa Williams explores why more women of colour aren't embraced in rock music – and why it's time things change.
MORE VENUES NEED YOUR HELP
This week the Arts Emergency Fund named thirty grassroots music venues in the UK that still desperately need more funding to prevent closure. For a full list of these 'red venues' – which include The Lexington, The Windmill and more – visit the Crowdfunder and donate what you can.
THE FREAKS SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH
For this month's //TREMORS// Sophie Walker enters the surreal world of Jazmin Bean to chat about Tim Burton, their outlandish image and re-worked debut EP 'Worldwide Torture'.
YOUR WEEKEND PLAYLIST
45s of the week include Billie Eilish's new bop, a Loyle Carner/Madlib collab, fresh tracks from Lynks, Starling and and more. Give 'em a spin.
LODEAD WITH HITS!
It's been half a century since The Velvet Underground released their final – and most commercially successful – album, 'Loaded'. Sophie Wilson travels back 50 years to dive into its story – including why Lou Reed hated the record.
