Organ Complex

Organ complexes are tablets that contain freeze dried organ meats, like liver, brain, heart, spleen and lungs.

Although interest in this supplement category has been on the rise for 2+ years, demand for organ complex products has spiked over the last year.

Interestingly, the organ complex trend tracks almost 1:1 with rising demand for organ meat in general.

Leaders in this emerging space include Ancestral Supplements, Codegage, and One Earth Health.

What's next:
Organ complexes are part of the Keto-specific product meta trend.

According to a survey by the International Food Information Council, 7% of Americans report following the keto diet. A 233% increase from 2018.

And the number of new keto diet food products has increased by 2.3x over the last year.

Examples of products riding this wave include marine collagen, ACV gummies, coconut wraps, and chia seed flour.

Topic #2

Core Web Vitals

Searches for “Core Web Vitals” have increased by 525% since we first covered it back in August. So we thought we’d take another look at this exploding topic.

“Core web vitals” are a set of metrics based on how quickly a webpage loads, becomes interactive, and offers visual stability.

According to Google, these factors are important enough to be measured by all site owners. (In fact, Google now reports them in Google Search Console.)

Google plans to use core web vitals as a ranking factor in their algorithm starting in May. Which means that pages with strong scores will have an edge when it comes to SEO.

What's next:
Core web vitals are the latest in a series of moves that Google has made to integrate UX into their algorithm.

It began with Google downranking pages with slow load times. They then gave HTTPS websites a slight rankings boost. And Google’s “Mobilegeddon” update punished pages that weren’t mobile friendly.

Flash forward to today, and Google is about to incorporate three core web vitals scores into their algorithm. Expect the number of factors under the “core web vitals” umbrella to expand in the coming years.

Topic #3

Tigernut Butter

Tiger nuts are small tubers (like sweet potato and cassava) that are typically eaten dried. Proponents claim that tiger nuts have a number of health benefits, including improved blood sugar control and digestion.

And searches for tiger nuts in their butter form have increased by 2.8x over the last five years.

Tiger nut butter has gained steam due to the fact that, unlike peanut butter and almond butter, it pairs well with the popular AIP diet.

What's next:
Tiger nut butter is part of the vegan snack meta trend.

7.3 million Americans consider themselves vegan or vegetarian. Which is leading to surging demand for vegan snack products.

Beyond nut butters, other examples of growing vegan CPG products include mushroom jerky, Hippeas, and vegan bone broth.

Topic #4

Pulumi

Pulumi is a multi-language, multi-cloud development platform.

It integrates with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and other cloud providers. Along with modern-day deployment systems such as Kubernetes and serverless.

Founded in 2017 by two former Microsoft engineers, Pulumi’s customers include Mercedes Benz, the National Institutes of Health and insurance carrier Lemonade.

The startup has raised $57.5M over three funding rounds.

What's next:
Pulumi is part of the “cloud engineering” meta trend.

According to Gartner, the global public cloud services market is expected to grow to $364B by 2024, up from $242.7B last year.

Other startups driving this meta trend include Terraform, ScoutSuite, Databricks, and Ansible.
