Five Great New Podcasts

Welcome to the 115th edition of Find That Pod.

Welcome subscribers, new and old!

I spent much of this week contemplating one question... should I start my own FIND THAT POD podcast?

The format would be simple. Interviews with well-known, and not-so-known podcasters about their shows. If you want to help me decide... fill out this simple YES or NO google form. Would love to hear your feedback. Now onto this week's podcast recommendations.

Immigrantly

If you have more than three brain cells to rub together you’ll understand that immigrants and immigration tend to be a good thing for developed nations. In fact, many western countries would have a declining population and as a result, declining tax revenues to spend on improvements to society if it were not for the influx of immigrants. Show host Saadia Khan explores the modern American concepts of racial identity, culture, and class through the lens of immigrant experiences. This podcast is a really fascinating look into the inner lives of immigrants and how they view America.

But it's more than that... it's a show that helps to deconstruct the archaic stereotypes of what it means to be an immigrant, a child of immigrants, a person of colour, and everything in between. Give it a listen, and I guarantee you'll be hooked.

Who Is?

You'd think that this is a show about just people. But with its egregiously bad use of grammar in podcast episode titles, this show also talks about other things that are both important and relevant to the social and cultural conversation to be had in the good old U.S of A. Want to learn about Jeff Bezos? They've got an episode for that. How about Vladimir Putin? or Ronald Reagan? Maybe you want to learn more about police unions, or, Geoengineer, or even Inherited Wealth. The Who Is? podcast turns out to be a pretty good show that explores a variety of American people and ideas.

What I've Learned

I probably don't have to introduce who Aranna Huffington is. She famously founded the Huffington Post, and went on to author fifteen books. Now this entrepreneur, journalist, and celebrity has moved on to running a new podcast. The show focuses on interviews conducted by Huffington with people she admires. Whose on that list? How about Stacey Abrams, Lisa Kudrow, Melinda Gates, Tim Ferris, Alexia Ohanian, and Lindsey Vonn for a start.

HISTORY

Ballsy History

This young show about history has a lot of promise. Hosted by four women this show explores some of the lesser known characters that had a profound effect on history. Incredible stories, outrageous acts and good story-telling are all a part of this podcast that will educate you in ways no history book or class has before. If you're into history, do yourself a favour and subscribe to this show.

We Regret to Inform You: The Rejection Podcast

Ah yes, rejection. That old gem that serves as a crippling stumbling block for many of us. But as we've been told time and time again, the road to success is often littered with agonizing speed bumps, u-turns, and to continue this car analogy, crashes that are sometimes nearly fatal. But it's not just you, it's all the musicians, celebrities, actors, artists, inventors, entrepreneurs. They'e all experienced rejection and debilitating doubt. This podcast focuses squarely on all those rejections, and what we can learn from them. It's a show about persistence, inspiration and how everyone can overcome the adversity of rejection.
