Spotted in our community garden this week is Fernanda Vilar! Fernanda is a Brazilian woman (can you guess where she's currently living based on the picture above...?😉🇫🇷), and multicultural researcher. Growing up in Brazil gave her a strong awareness about inequalities, sexism and racism – and it's why she dedicated her PhD in African Studies to understanding the effect of colonialism in Africa and Latin America. Fun fact: for her research, she won the United Nations Academic Impact Prize! Currently, Fernanda is a comms strategist in UNESCO’s Youth section, and an ongoing adviser and contributor at The Bloom. When she's not winning impressive prizes and saving the world, you can catch Fernanda on a tennis court, cooking vegan food, writing about cool monuments around Europe, or daydreaming to be "una chica Almodovar".
