Banned

Blackstone’s ratio is the idea that it’s better to let ten guilty persons escape than let one innocent suffer. It seems like Amazon doesn’t subscribe to this idea because its algorithm punishes innocent sellers without proper investigation for the sake of protecting its customers.

A Posser-based business was banned from the platform after it was falsely linked to an erring Chinese seller.

How are they connected?

More Amazon Insurance Changes

Recently, Amazon announced significant changes to its liability insurance requirements. While we have yet to see how strictly they will be implemented, there are further changes that need your attention.

To avoid account suspension and selling restrictions, you need to do the following once you reach the threshold of $10,000 in gross proceeds in any month:

  • Get business insurance of at least $1M in aggregate
  • Submit proof of insurance on Seller Central
  • Name “Amazon.com Services LLC and its affiliates and assignees” as additional insured

You may already have existing insurance, but review it to ensure that it’s compliant with Amazon’s new terms. You can also use the Insurance Accelerator to make things easier.

Holidays Come Early at Amazon

Most of you will offer discounts and deals this Q4. How well did you prepare?

We hope your inventory is on its way because you only have until November 15 to get them to fulfillment centers in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and December 11 for Christmas.

Sea freight rates are still high, and restock reductions continue to worry FBA sellers. So we hope you planned well so your inventory can get here just in time. Also, you should have a reliable 3PL if you don’t have one already.

Facebook vs. Apple (continued)

It’s a tale as old as time. Apple screams privacy protection. Facebook says bull.

The spat between the two giants continues to intensify as Apple adds more privacy features, making it more expensive for companies like Facebook to manage advertisements effectively.

The social media’s stock already dropped by almost 4 percent after it announced that the new privacy changes will have an even bigger impact on Q3. It’s already underreporting iOS web conversions by about 15 percent (but this varies for different advertisers).

This comes at a very inconvenient time with the holidays coming up. Businesses that advertise on Facebook will have less effective campaigns and won’t be receiving accurate reports.

Zuckerberg’s company says it’s hurting small businesses and that it’s really a move to ensure Apple’s dominance. But Apple stands its ground on giving its users the freedom to choose to be tracked or not.

And while it’s not an absolute solution to the problem, Facebook has released a list of things they’re working on as well as what their advertisers can do to prepare for the holiday season.
