Is Andy Jassy sucking the life out of Amazon’s retail business? [Amazon Q3 Earnings]

Amazon used to be an unstoppable train, but despite high expectations, it had pretty dismal earnings for Q3.

For the first time ever, revenue from Amazon’s services, which includes AWS, eclipsed its net product sales. New head honcho Andy Jassy previously led AWS—coincidence?

Amazon's Q3 earnings also revealed that:

  • It missed both top and bottom line predictions
  • Jassy expects to incur billions of added costs heading into Q4

Also, Amazon’s retail business itself lost millions because of the unending list of supply chain disruptions and the pandemic surge coming to an end. AND YET, it has doubled its fulfillment network since COVID broke out.
