One of The Most Powerful Women in Sports Works in Sneakers

Hero

Adweek recently announced its Most Powerful Women in Sports list, and 1 of the 30+ honorees on the list comes from a sneaker brand.

Andrea Perez, the Global Vice President and General Manager for Jordan Brand’s women’s division, lands a well-deserved spot on the list. Perez has been with Nike for over a decade, and has been holding her current position since 2017.Jordan Brand’s women’s division has grown exponentially since Perez helped relaunch the category, walking the walk and putting real energy into WNBA athletes, collabs, apparel, and an extensive list of women’s exclusive sneakers – the list goes on. Let’s not forget our very recent partnership with Jordan Brand to showcase some of the SoleSavy Women’s Community.

Perez, who was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and played soccer and softball at Tecnológico de Monterrey, was also instrumental with Nike’s soccer division with her roles from Sr. Global Brand Director to General Manager of North America.

As sneaker culture continues to grow, we can surely expect to see more women from sneaker brands crossing over into these categories.

Jordan Brand Unveils a Special AJ1 Hi FlyEase PE

Hero

In July 2021, Jordan Brand was connected with 13-year-old Jordan Carranza through Make-A-Wish®. Carranza, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, had a wish to design a shoe that broke down barriers and selected the Air Jordan 1 Hi FlyEase.

"What inspired me to make this shoe is that Nike has always been my favorite brand, and I have always wanted to make a shoe. The reason I made a handicap style is that it shows me that just because you’re disabled doesn’t mean that your dream can’t come true," Carranza said.

Following the design process, Jordan Brand celebrated Carranza and his vision with a "PE Watch" that’s normally reserved for the brand’s professional athletes. But for the brand, the "PE Watch" treatment was a given since Carranza is a premier member of the Jordan Brand Family. The brand’s commitment to purpose and the values on which the brand was built should be accessible to all – regardless of ability.

Take a detailed look at the pair here. The Air Jordan 1 Hi FlyEase is made exclusively for Jordan Carranza and will not be made available for purchase.

🏀 Klutch’s Rich Paul is Getting His Own New Balance 550 Colorway
Rich Paul, the co-founder of Klutch Sports, is getting his own New Balance 550. It’s not everyday you see a sports agent co-founder get his own sneaker. But, if anyone were to get one, it had to be Rich Paul. The upcoming colorway encompasses an aged look as a sail upper is paired with a yellowed "N" logo and tongue. A burst of blue appears on the shoe as a UNC-like blue and a deep navy color combination adorn the rest of the low-top. The pair is packaged in a commemorative box for an even more elegant look. 📖  What is SoleSavy?
We’re a community of people passionate about sneakers. Sneaker culture is about the people but somewhere along the way, that became lost. Individuals and companies began to exploit the industry with greed in an attempt to turn a profit from our collective passion. Our goal is to help lead the way in reversing that trend.
