🌍 The 'crypto queens' staking out space in blockchain world: "When I first heard about blockchain, I didn't think it was for me. But I was attracted to the art, and realised NFTs give people who haven't had the opportunity to invest in or sell art the traditional way, a chance to do so. Crypto and NFTs are a path to financial independence, so it's important that women and girls know about them." → Story
🌍 How Africa paved the way for veganism way before the rest of the world: Veganism can be traced back to 3300 BCE as a form of abstinence rooted in belief systems centered around nonviolence towards animals. Gratitude for all the love in my life is giving me so much power, strength, and confidence these days. It’s very easy to lose sight of those around you by getting caught up in the daily anxiety of work, chores. Taking a breath and thinking of the friends, family, and lovers we may have is deeply joyful and grounds you. Sit down, put some joyful music in the background, and give thanks - one by one - for the people you love: it’s more meaningful than you might think. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the album Mirrors by DJ Seinfeld.

Slowing down, unplugging, exhaling, closing the door. These days, I am allowing myself to embrace what fall is all about. I have found this to be a valuable reminder in times where the news is hectic, loud, and heartbreaking and everything is getting faster and faster. Make space to connect with your own body and mind, family, friends and nature and feel how uplifting it can be. Nourish your roots so that you can withstand the storm. Also would like to share this newsletter We are not really Strangers.

A few things! 1. I’m trying to remind myself that everyone was a beginner at some point, that no one was born an expert on anything (well, except their own lives). 2. Accepting compliments and kind words instead of brushing them off: people wouldn’t choose to give a compliment if they didn’t really want to, and acknowledging that they see something special in you that you may not see in yourself can be a real gift. By brushing off or denying their compliment, it feels like rejecting that gift. 3. Gratitude practice! I’ve been using an app called “Presently” to track my GLAD every day… G = grateful, L = learned, A = accomplished, D = delighted. Cheesy but helpful!

Reflection makes me feel confident these days. When I sit to think about how far I have come, I realise that I can go much further. I have overcome several of the challenges that I didn't think I could. This awareness gives me the belief that I will overcome whatever I fear right now.

Lifting weights has really kept me grounded lately. I’ve been following Caroline Girvan’s workouts on YouTube this year and nothing makes me feel more confident than finishing one of her workouts. It’s a great reminder that my body is strong and that I can do hard things. Plus, it is the time in the day when I zone out and really just focus on myself. Her channel is 100% focused on building strength, power, and stability in our bodies and pushing ourselves to the limit. None of that “abs in 5 minutes” or “brazilian butt lift in 30 seconds” BS.

Like Serafina, intentional slowness brings me confidence. It looks different each day—sometimes, it is focusing on my breath each time I feel astray; the other times, reading writers I love and resonate with (currently: Mary Oliver and Heather Havrilesky), or experiencing music in any way I can. More so, these help me cultivate and prolong confidence. Also, cherish it, which is a feeling we tend to miss out on and must hold close because it is confidence-inducing in itself. I believe that gradually recognizing and prioritizing what helps me connect with myself has been the most indispensible part of the process, along with the recognition (this one's taken me a while) that it doesn't have to feel like a loud roar and may not appear as such on the outside, because it's still strengthening within, and that's okay!

Loving myself beyond the boundaries of cultural norms. Practicing gratitude when the goings are really tough and they are! Birds chirping during the early hours of the morning. Watching bees drinking water peacefully despite all of the surrounding chaos. A plant making it through the soil honoring life cycle. Reflecting. Listening to classical baroque music.Knowing that beloved ones are healthy. Practicing yoga and meditation Namaste.

Slow down, breath. Going through change can be challenging and ungrounding. Every transition phase, for me, comes with some doses of self-doubt and anxiety. Whatever looks very hard, sometimes can look much better if I just slow down, and breathe consciously. So, whenever I face a challenging moment, I start to repeat myself slow down, breath. For November, I created a playlist that helps me put into action this mantra, ultimately fostering self-confidence and self-esteem.
