SoftBank-backed Gopuff facing staff backlash after acquiring Dija

Gopuff, the $15bn US grocery delivery giant, acquired London’s Dija in August as part of its European expansion. It was billed as a successful exit for the Dija founders and their investors (Blossom, Index and Creandum).

But three months later, some Dija employees are jumping ship amid complaints of feeling sidelined. Among those to have left is Chad West, Revolut’s former comms director, who joined Dija after four years at the fintech.

What’s going on, and what’s Gopuff's big plan to take on Europe?

Booming used car market gives the UK its latest unicorn

It's been a good year for the used car industry, as demand increased amid a shortage in semiconductors which has hiked up the price of new cars.

One of the startups riding this wave is London-based second-hand car marketplace Motorway, which has secured $190m, valuing it above $1bn, with Index Ventures leading the round.

News That Matters

💸 The fundraising friend. London-based startup Vauban, which enables VCs and angels to raise funds, create angel syndicates and manage fundraising and investment activities, bagged a $6.3m funding round. Investors like Anthemis, Passion Capital and Octopus Ventures are using the platform, along with 5,000 other LPs.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 One big Scottish exit. When Current Health, a healthtech startup providing software and wearables for patients, was bought by Best Buy last month the financial terms were not disclosed — but now they have been. The deal was worth a whopping £300m, meaning its cofounders are looking at a big payday.

💥 Accel Club raises $170m. Not to be confused with the VC firm, this Dutch Amazon aggregator acquires and operates profitable and fast-growing independent sellers on Amazon, is just nine months old and already boasts offices in Europe, the US and China.
