Female Founders in Short Supply

This is a crazy stat: Fewer than 2% of enterprise software startups in the U.S. feature a female founder. I'm so proud that Nira is one of the few. I couldn't imagine building this company without my co-founder Marie Prokopets. The tech world has a long way to go with investing in female-led companies, but I'm excited to see what the future holds.

How To Run an Early-Stage Board Meeting

Many early-stage founders think board meetings are a distraction, but they can be highly valuable when done the right way. Whether you're thinking about what your board should look like or considering how to make the most of the one you have, this is a helpful guide. One of the suggestions I agree with the most is to favor short and frequent meetings over long, infrequent ones.

How Leading Companies Define the IT Manager Role

There's a shortage of IT workers as companies look to adopt new technologies quickly. That is good news for IT professionals looking to change roles. But what should they expect from the market? My company Nira recently analyzed over 50 IT Manager job postings on LinkedIn and uncovered some interesting learning around salary expectations, core skills, and responsibilities. Check out the complete list of insights here.

How Resilient Is the Internet?

Over the past few months, we've seen significant system outages at companies like Facebook and Amazon. It's given us a glimpse into the vulnerabilities of the internet's underlying architecture. Here are some interesting thoughts on what it means for the future of the internet and how Web3 might take shape soon.

How To Structure Scaling Product Teams

When you're growing a startup with three to five teams in place, giving each one an area of ownership and key metrics is typical. But that structure can lead to tunnel vision and team silos at scale. If you want to drive alignment across product and other departments as your company grows, it's worth thinking about how you may need to restructure your teams.

 Marketing & Sales

The 2021 Content Marketing Benchmark Report

After analyzing 150 million pageviews of data from over 60,000 pieces of content, content marketing agency Animalz learned some interesting things about industry growth rates, traffic benchmarks, popular growth channels, and content engagement. A few numbers in this report surprised me. Give it a read—it'll give you perspective as you set your marketing goals for 2022.

The Biggest Mistake Marketers Make

I agree with the sentiment in this tweet. One of the biggest mistakes a marketer can make is creating content that night impress their boss rather than customers. It isn't always easy to define the difference, but if you want to optimize your content efforts, make sure you're producing the right content at the right time to the best possible audience.

 Growth
The Atomic Network

You couldn't be on Twitter this week without hearing about Andrew Chen's new book, The Cold Start Problem, and for good reason. Chen tackles one of the most challenging startup questions: How do you hit the critical mass of users before your product is useful? His main argument is that if you can create a small, engaged "atomic" network, you can grow from there. If you're building a network effects company, this is a must-read.

The Ultimate Guide to Conversational Sales and Selling

There is so much opportunity when it comes to how companies sell. Buyers have come to expect more personal sales interactions, and not enough businesses are stepping up to the challenge. So if you want to uplevel your sales, this step-by-step guide will point you in the right direction.

 Management
How Work Is Changing

The Atlassian team created an eye-opening report on the workforce's shifting priorities and expectations. Workers are prioritizing flexibility, well-being, and remote work more than ever before. I highly recommend browsing through this report if you're a founder or leader.

How To Humanize Async Work

The conversation around remote work is shifting. Leaders are thinking beyond how to make things work right now and moving toward optimizing remote work long-term. One of the biggest challenges is fostering an environment that allows colleagues to build relationships and cultivate a robust organizational culture. This is a good read on improving the social side of remote work

 Insight of the Week
Opportunities Are Endless

Opportunities are endless, but time is limited. Chasing a bad idea can take away years of your time, money, and energy. No one makes perfect career choices, but consider the gravity of whatever you choose to pursue. There will always be countless ideas to pursue, but only so much time to try new things. Choose your commitments wisely
