Many people want to fulfill their dreams, but invisible demons have most of them in chains and keep them away from those dreams.

I have spent years filled with the burning desire to change my life — start a business, become financially independent, lose weight and build friendships to cherish for life. Burning desires followed by random actions leading to no results.

I took the initiative, started a business, joined a gym with premium facilities, and went out of my way to help friends.

But something was missing.

There was always friction. Seemingly stupid things were stalling my plans, ruining my progress, and pulling me back to where I was.

As if something was holding me back in chains.

As if I could progress only to the extent of the chain slack, only to be pulled back to zero.

Setbacks made me realize that I need to improve my skills, become better than my competitors.

So, I spent months working on my design, marketing, and interpersonal skills.

I then focussed on my daily routine, tried to be more disciplined at it.

Those months of improvement instilled a new confidence in me.

Armed with this confidence, I went back to work to the daily grind of achieving my dreams.

The result?

Failure.

I failed in everything exactly like before — a bit of progress, and then my invisible demons pulled me back to square one.

A strange quietness started settling within me.

And it was during those days of silent desperation that I first came face to face with the demons holding me in chains.

They were nasty, ruthless, and powerful demons.

They didn't care for my well-being, my dreams, or my progress.

They wanted me in their grip forever and were ready to go to any length for this end.

It was a scary experience.

I was about to switch to my warrior mode.

Until they told me a secret...

At first, I thought it was their little dirty trick to confuse me or some plain old school mind game, but then they started telling me the details and the stories that were as true as steel.

Slowly that secret started to sink in.

And then it led me to see the things I had never seen before, about my own life.

My life re-played itself in front of my eyes along with the commentary of why things happened the way they had happened.

It was astonishing, like looking at something for the first time.

Astonishment followed by days of bewilderment — how should I move ahead in life? Can I still realize my dreams? And how?

With a clear understanding of the challenges in front of me, I picked myself up and vowed to fight the root cause powering these demons.

I tried many things, listened to the feedback, and course-corrected repeatedly.

My demons were not happy about it.

They whispered to me, "Geeta, we have you in our grip for years; you can't get out."

But this time, I gave them no ear.

They further pushed me down ruthlessly.

I persisted and found a way to win over them.

I succeeded.

I showed them that I come from the traditions of valor.

How do I know that I found the right way?

Well, when I succeeded, I didn't succeed in just one area but in all areas of my life where I was struggling — I went on to build a business and become financially independent, learned to travel alone, cultivate and nurture true friendships, and have since broken the chains of self-doubt and shyness.

It all started with the secret of all my sufferings.

And when I understood it, that same secret became the pathway to my success.

What's that secret?

"Your life is the byproduct of the habit patterns of your mind."

Destructive habit patterns are the demons holding you in chains.

These demons feed on your failures, frustrations, and hopelessness.

Your demons would be different from my demons, but all of them stop us from being what we truly want.

They stop us from progressing and from shining like a star that we really are.
