Setting the Limits

Good news! Amazon is increasing restock limits. Bad news: It might be a little too late now that the holiday season is almost over.

There are also other changes that came with the announcement involving the required IPI for FBA storage limits.

How much will you need?

AWS Outage: The Third Installment

If you weren’t able to contact your employees or coworkers via Slack, it’s probably just because of the AWS power outage. This is the third time this month that this happened, and this latest outage affected the US-EAST-1 Region.

The problem was deemed resolved after 12 hours, but that’s long enough for big companies such as Asana and Slack whose users had trouble accessing their services.

AWS has had almost 30 outages within the past 12 months. Will we continue to see more before the year ends?

Trash Talk: Where Does Walmart Dump Its Waste?

The California Attorney General, along with a dozen district attorneys, filed a lawsuit against Walmart, alleging that the retail giant has dumped almost 80 tons of hazardous waste each year in the state’s landfills for the past 5 years.

The lawsuit is based on inspections of Walmart’s trash compactors, which allegedly reveal batteries, cleaning supplies, and other hazardous waste along with confidential customer information.

Walmart calls this lawsuit “unjustified,” insisting that they have not violated any environmental protection laws. The company also boasts of its “industry-leading hazardous waste compliance programs.”

However, this isn’t the first time that Walmart got on California’s bad side. Back in 2010, the company and the state reached a $25 million settlement for a similar offense. Despite the hefty fine, it seems like Walmart still hasn’t learned its lesson.

It’s Amazon’s Turn to Sue

After months of what it considers unnecessary harassment, Amazon has had enough of India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED), and its lawyers wrote an 816-page filing to show that.

The issue started when the ED, which is India’s government agency responsible for fighting economic crimes, began probing into Amazon’s investment in Future Group. The agency suspects the company has violated foreign investment laws, but Amazon calls the investigation a “fishing and roving” inquiry.

This is because the ED had requested for disclosure of privileged documents and information and had summoned its executives even if they weren’t aware of or connected to the transaction. In February, the agency sought information about big vendors on Amazon.in, including sales.

Both parties did not make details public, but Reuters was able to see the court filing.

In Other News

Unite. A group of Amazon warehouse workers in Staten Island are refiling their request for a union vote. Will they succeed this time?

Stock drop. Amazon’s stock is underperforming, but it’s still a Wall Street favorite.

Late deliveries. Amazon’s delivery drivers are working later than others. And there are some horror stories involved when you chance upon a sketchy neighborhood at night.
