The pen is mightier than the sword - Edward Bulwer-Lytton.
This 1800's saying proves to be true again and again, even with something less dramatic like marketing, but still.
When it comes to building your brand- there are a few different (and free) ways you can utilize content to create an impact on the community you want to align with.
Showcasing That You're An Authority in Your Expertise
You must show what makes you unique in your area of expertise and be authentic to position yourself. So, don't regurgitate what everyone says. Doing so will make you seem fake, and your audience may feel like your brand isn't credible.
Keep up with the trends and jump on that bandwagon- if it's relevant. The more you find out, the more unique and interesting you'll be with your ideas. And as a result, you can create and share content in a way that will help show your target audience that you are a worthy authority in your area of expertise.
Sign up to be notified for ‘breaking’ news in your industry, announcements or updates, thought leaders, newsletters and whatever brings you value, even if it's bite-size.
Be one of the first to learn it, internalize it and spin it for your followers. Then, add something unique to it; you can do this by going a step further to even give your own experience or spin.
For instance, if you're running an agency and news comes out about an update for Google Keywords, don't just echo the update, but take it a step further to how, specifically, it affects your customers–good or bad.
This can be done through blog posts, Tweets, newsletters, 'How to's and wherever else content exists for your brand.
Use Twitter to Engage Your Audience With Thought Leadership Content
Twitter is one of the best platforms to see and be seen. Experts exist there, and this is a creative platform to showcase your own knowledge.
Marketers can build a following on these networks by building through leadership and sharing their expertise.
The best performing posts include long-form posts with 1900 to 2,000 words. They are also skimmable posts that have several headlines.
Ideally, marketers should implement a rule of thirds when they plan content strategy, which is as follows:
1/3rd- promoting the company
1/3rd- sharing personal stories
1/3rd- informative insights from influencers or experts.
Blog Building
You already know the importance of blogs– but just as a reminder always choose to opt for quality, be known for that.
Optimize and try with various formats so you can see what works best for your brand. Also, explore industry trends to build thought leadership. Write guides to teach readers something new or prompt them to think differently about it.
Take advantage of valuable evergreen content where possible. Implement timely posts that will captivate your audience who are ready to learn from experts. Also, create content that analyzes emerging or current trends. All these formats will lead to a growing conversation.
Being a contributor to other publications that are relevant to your industry is also valuable. When doing that, you should use links that will go back to your own blog, which will increase traffic to your website. To improve SEO and obtain more search engine traffic, you should also include internal links.
Having an Email Newsletter Subscription
Make it a two-way relationship; whatever value you add to your blog, Tweets, social media, whitepapers, website– in other words don’t just make users come to you for value, go to them. For example, don’t make users sign up for the newest blog update, instead summarize the top information followers need to know and bundle it in a time-saving email. The valuable bite-sized information keeps people connected and relationships going.
Stay consistent with these emails–always. Pay attention to your open rates and CTR and focus on layout, summary and keep your brand tone consistent with how your followers like to be spoken to.
Building Connections With Others in the Industry
On Twitter, one way to build connections is by spending time responding to DMs, threads, and comments accordingly. These interactions help to build your following, network virtually, and
You can build a culture of admiration and respect by doing the following:
Share others content,
Retweet others' ideas
Respond by giving kudos to mainly insightful tweets.
You can build the same type of culture by doing the following:
Know that messages, groups, and topics are essential for brand building.
Build specific lists based on topics and keep adding to your lists
Engage in conversations concerning those relevant topics.
Follow relevant profiles, and participate in these topics through conversation.
Commit to communicating with other industry experts.
Personalize your message to clarify the interaction you are hoping for.
The idea isn’t just about how to distribute content to build your brand but how to generate valuable content to begin with.
Marketing News It turns out that Zoomers (a comeback term created by boomers) are pretty good early adopters.
Pinterest's recent report highlighted that Gen Z'ers are far more likely to be the first in taking on the newest and 'coolest' (is cool, still cool?) thing out there, making that fantastic news for eCommerce.
For this generation, born between 1997-2012 (what comes after Z??), there is no such thing as life before the internet and compared to millennials, they are far more likely to adopt something that will set them apart.
Which makes Gen Z one of the fastest to make purchases, changing up the buyer's journey to what we have all been preparing for, offering the quickest way to checkout.
Here are some stats published by Pinterest
Zoomers are 20% more like to try a new product compared to any other generation
Videos are 16% more likely to convert Gen Z
Gen Z purchased 80% more new products than any other generation in 2021
Gen Z are more likely to buy if the product they are purchasing represents them in a unique way
Are you losing out on $$ for these common landing page mistakes?
1# Page loading speed:
According to Portent studies for every 1 second delay you can lose 4.42% of your conversion rate. Can you imagine the loss in $$ if your page takes 10 seconds to load. Go to Gtmetrix and put the URL of your page and check how fast your page loads and discover the problems hampering the speed and conversions.
#2 Is your value proposition clear?
Value proposition is the promise/value to be delivered. The hero section of the page should have a clear value proposition. A good value proposition has clarity, shows the concrete result the customer would get, how it is better than the competitors and avoids hype.
