Tip of the Day

Found yourself with leftover ginger? Peel the whole root and freeze it in a small freezer bag with the air expelled. It’ll keep for months and be there when you need “fresh” ginger again.

Happy Thursday! We’re getting close to the end of January and if you’re already struggling with your New Year’s resolutions then you’ll definitely want to check out these tips. (And if your resolution is exercise-centric, do check out these low-impact exercises you can do at home as well as why resistance bands are a must-have for leg toning and sculpting.)

While you’re at it, check out our tips for selecting the best sheets for a good night’s sleep. Exercise and self-care can only take you so far if you’re not sleeping well. If you’re squared away with good sheets and a comfy bed but you find yourself staying up late every night you might have a case of revenge sleep procrastination.

Speaking of sports and fitness though, today’s water cooler trivia is a throwback to the start of an era. On this day in 1892, the first official game of basketball took place. The game was hosted by basketball inventor James A. Naismith in Springfield, MA. The first players were his students at the International Young Men’s Christian Association Training School (now Springfield College). The game quickly spread to YMCA youth centers across the U.S. and Canada, helping basketball gain a swift cultural foothold.
