TODAYS COMMENTARY Get a Cup of Coffee & Enjoy Catching Up!

BUY LIST UPDATE: One OIL company added to the BUY LIST yesterday: The DOW is down roughly -6.2% YTD. The S&P is down roughly -9.15% YTD. NASDAQ is down roughly -15% YTD. The StockTips BUY LIST, despite all companies profiting well & at a value is down -10.18%. While the average realized gain per stock (so far) remains at an average of +13.43% in 39 days. In short, if you copied me trade for trade, you would still be up well above market performance since the start of this newsletter. I got to say, given that the majority of the companies on the BUY LIST are NASDAQ, I’m fairly satisfied with the performance. Particularly when I consider the increased value as a result of the bear market.

Todays Market Observations:

• Retail Sales: Yesterday’s retail sales for February came in at 0.3%. A 0.4% increase was expected. That’s not enough to claim that consumers are getting completely priced out (due to inflation) as EXPECTED, but enough to note that spending is slowing (likely due to inflation). February 2021 retail sales spiked 11% … but that was a post COVID outlier. So the days of massive increases in retail sales are over … for now.

• FED Interest Rate Decision: The Federal Reserve increased rates by 25 basis points (0.25%). That wont make any difference folks. The great thing about all this inflation is the stocks you are invested in now will be worth much much more (nominally) in the future than they are today as earnings balance out & recover from high inflation. In any case inflation will be well above 8% (Highly Likely) when the March numbers are reported on April 12th. As summer ramps up we may top off at 10% (Moderately Likely).

• Reported Today: Building Permits & Housing Starts. Consensus 1.85m/1.69m respectively. Building Permits & Housing Starts have a major impact on homebuilders & building materials (Commodities such as lumber & steel).

• Treasury yields ebb as investors digest Fed rate hike

• Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index soars 7% as tech, property stocks surge; Japan’s Nikkei up more than 3%

• European markets mixed as investors react to Fed hike

• Russia claims to have ordered crucial bond payment as it seeks to avoid historic debt default

• China’s elevated Covid cases may not hit the economy as hard as feared
