6%OF TEENS failed to quit using nicotine products in 2020 according to a new study - 2% cigarettes and 4% vaping - the highest level of failure in 13 years. From 1997 to 2019 the numbers of teens using cigarettes and failure rates on quitting had both dropped, however researchers found the mass introduction of e-cigarettes has made quitting noticeably more difficult.  

2.5kCHILDREN under 18 years of age try their 1st cigarette each day in the US and more than 400 of them will become new, regular daily smokers. Half of these will ultimately die from their habit. If current tobacco use patterns persist, an estimated 5.6 million of today’s youth under age 18 in the US will eventually will die prematurely from a smoking-related disease.
