This week’s money mood: Spring cleaning 🌸

I don’t know about you, but there’s something about the first week of spring that makes me want to just … get rid of everything I don’t need. After months of being ~very indoors~, my space feels a little stale. I want everything reset, put back in its place so I can start fresh and *bloom*.

Same goes for our money. We set out in January with the best of New Year’s intentions, but all the real life since then — and, you know, inflation — might have things feeling scattered. But with summer fun (and a zillion weddings) next on the calendar, now’s the perfect time to take a step back, check in, reset our goals and budgets, and start fresh for the months ahead.

This week, we’ve got resources on how to do that.

Watching you bloom,

$$ win of the week

“I’d heard of parents buying a small house for their kid, and I thought, ‘That will never be me.’ Twenty years later, I’m buying a small house for my college-bound kid.”

Just a little bit of new$

Good stuff for a lot of people’s credit scores: Starting in July, the three major reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) will make changes to how they consider medical debt, including wiping paid-off medical debt from people’s credit reports.

The SEC is officially proposing a new rule that would require companies to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions, plus climate risks that might affect them (like needing to ditch fossil fuels, the threat of major weather events, etc).

23 — soon to be 24 — states now require personal finance classes in high school curricula. Financial wellness is a lifelong practice, but we’re here for planting that seed early. 🙌

After raising interest rates last week, the Federal Reserve now says it’s willing to raise rates even “more aggressively” throughout 2022. (Here’s an explainer on what all that means, btw.)

ICYMI, new research found that women want their investments to have a positive social and environmental impact. And if they were to invest at the same rate as men, over $1.9 trillion (with a T!) would flow into responsible investments. (If only we knew of something literally built for this. 😎)

Summer is coming — check investing off the list before it gets here.
