6 Great New Podcasts

Welcome to the 159th edition of Find That Pod.

Here are this week's recommendations:

Piecing it Together

For the second week in a row, we've got another unique podcast revolving around the world of film.

The Piecing It Together podcast takes a look at a new movie and tries to figure out what other movies may have inspired it.

Created by award-winning music composer and film lover David Rosen, the show started as a way for David to talk movies with his friends. Rather than just do a regular movie news or review show, he wanted some kind of angle to approach discussing films from, and when he realized he usually describes a film as x meets x meets x meets x… He was already on his way to forming the theme of the show.

Another gem of a show for any movie buff!

The Beautiful Liar

An unlikely super-hero origin story, The Beautiful Liar, is an original scripted series imagined by the band the X Ambassadors. When a blind teenager named Clementine (Rory Anne Dahl) suddenly loses her father, her world is completely upended — powers she didn’t know she had start to manifest and take the form of her secret friend, Shadow (Emily Hampshire, Schitt’s Creek). Moving to a new school, she struggles to hide her abilities from her friends - and band mates - as they fight to make the town a better place. Little does she know, her powers have triggered the attention of The Institute, a sinister organization who will stop at nothing to have her in their grasp.

A great fiction series worth checking out!

The CRAM Podcast

I'm going to crib a touch from another review I read about this show, but it's an incredibly apt description. CRAM is like a digest of deep thought, the National Geographic of research.

The CRAM Podcast features engaging and thought-provoking interviews that explore innovative ideas and exciting new research that’s shaping our lives - whether it's the evolution of the work world, the transformative ways we connect, the re-imagining of home and place, or the dramatic changes in our identity and community. The show interviews leading researchers and big thinkers about the human condition and the possibilities of tomorrow.

Other People's Problems

Real people. Real problems. Real talk. Normally, therapy sessions are totally confidential — but this podcast opens the doors. Hillary McBride and her clients want to help demystify mental health. No actors. No auditions. No artifice. This is what people really sound like when they talk about traumatic births, turbulent divorces, eating disorders and tough childhoods.
