The Forty-Five - Angel Through The Looking Glass

View this email in your browser
Hello,

Happy Glastonbury week. Whether you've been before, are going this year or just love to watch it on the telly, the BBC's new documentary about the last 50 years of the Somerset music festival is a wonderful watch and goes some way to capture what is so special about Worthy Farm. It's on iPlayer now.

Elsewhere, we saw Chicago band Horsegirl (above) play in Paris over the weekend with support from Frances of Delirium (who reminded us of an early Girl In Red). Horsegirl have recently released their incredibly accomplished debut, 'Versions of Modern Performance', a scuzzy, Sonic Youth-inspired noise rock record. The trio are all still teenagers and recently told NME they were alarmed by how many 6 Music Dads were showing up to their shows. They play some UK dates this week, if you feel like helping to readdress that balance.

ANGEL THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
Angel Olsen's new album deals with loss, love and finding herself. She has a beautifully frank conversation with El Hunt for this month's Cover Story.

PHOEBE AND FRIENDS
Phoebe Bridgers played New York's Forest Hills Stadium over the weekend, with a little help from her friends. See exclusive photos of the show featuring MUNA and Lucy Dacus, shot by Sam Keeler.
HOW SPIRITBOX WON DOWNLOAD
There was a standout act at this year's Download Festival and it was Canada's Spiritbox and their ferocious frontwoman, Courtney LaPlante. Here's Jenessa Williams on how they owned the Midlands metal fest.
SKY FERREIRA'S UK LIVE RETURN
Sky Ferreira is back and fans are thrilled but this Guardian interview has given us all cause for concern about her wellbeing. Sophie Wilson went down to her first UK live show since 2014 and was reminded of what an incredible talent Ferreira is. Let's hope she is being supported by her team, in the way that she deserves.
