There’s another way to get candidates, and that’s through interacting with them on posts they publish on social networks. Some clever thinking by the author here, who finds a way to ID viral posts on a topic he cares about, and uses comments to set up the follow up DM. A do-able technique.

Correlates of Programmer Efficacy and Their Link to Experience

Fascinating twitter thread of a piece of research which tried to measure how good programmers were by tracking their eye movements and monitoring their brainwaves. The finding that experience (years of) did not correlate to programming efficacy is only one of the thing we have to think about here, including should we actually wire people up when assessing them? Dehumanization Is a Feature of Gig Work, Not a Bug

Some sociology here, with the idea that gig economy platforms a designed for efficiency and so there is no scope of personalisation of the service, which is the dehumanising factor that the author uses in the title. No solutions here, other than a warning that the people delivering our conveniences might just be the canaries to a future we all might share. Brainfood is not all easy reading you know.

'Making it Go Viral' is Now a Career, as Creator Jobs Boom in These 10 fields

The more you think about it, the more obvious the creator economy is the worker response to the prospect of dehumanising gig working - it’s the hyper humanising opposite. Going to do more on creator economy as it’s obviously and ironically an increasingly valued skill for employers, as this post from LinkedIn shows.
