We’ve already hit the backlash against the concept of ‘quiet quitting’ with even the FT now proclaiming that it’s ok for workers to simply do their job and nothing more. Fascinating thread on a fascinating subreddit community dedicated to becoming fraudulently ‘overemployed’ - taking on multiple full time jobs whilst pretending to the full time on only one. Maybe a form of social protest against ‘the man’, a response to the cost-of-living crisis, inevitable exploitation of the weak spots in a remote working world, or just clever outsourcing. After all, if we are really committed to ‘results driven management’, why should we care if the work just gets done?

The question is how do we distribute equal access to the Metaverse when the headsets remain luxury items available only for the rich. Hard to see them as ever ubiquitous as the mobile phone, but I guess once upon a time we might have thought of that device as a luxury item before it become obvious that everyone needed one. So I’m back in London after spending a fabulous week in Madrid. I didn’t know the city much at all before I arrived and I feel I know it a little better now having drank a few beers and had a few laughs there. Need to travel more I think, but perhaps do longer stints rather ‘rolling stone’ type adventures. Anyways, this cool website on what the locals call their neighbourhoods is quite fun and I suspect might even be useful if you wanted a quick vibe check of the area you’re planning to stay around.

Anyways, back for the HRH Queen Elizabeth II funeral tomorrow. It’s been a week of mourning for all my buddies in the UK and I am glad to be back to pay my respects to person who I think was fundamentally decent in the person she was. Hence, no Brainfood Baked Fresh tomorrow.
