  1. Summary
28-year-old Bryan Kohberger was arrested Friday on four counts of first-degree murder and burglary in connection with the November murders of four University of Idaho students. Paranoia was mounting in the area as weeks had gone by without police identifying a motive or suspect. 19,000 tips have been submitted to police since the killings.

Kohberger, a PhD student in criminology at a nearby university, was unknown to the families of the victims. But one of the victim's fathers said that since learning his name, the family has started to see some connections which they are not yet ready to disclose.

One of Kohberger's peers told the Associated Press that he was shocked by the arrest. Authorities have yet to find a murder weapon or reveal a motive. Kohberger was connected to the scene via genetic genealogy, which entails running unidentified DNA samples against a public database to identify familial matches that can be narrowed down to a suspect. The technique typically does not require a warrant.

Should energy companies face a temporary tax to fund financial aid to the poor?

Context: Exxon sues the EU over the bloc's tax on 'windfall profits.'

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - Financially healthy oil companies are an essential element of a reliable energy infrastructure. Government policy choices (not oil company decisions) left Europe vulnerable to energy extortion by Russia. A windfall tax would be another poor policy choice as it would reduce production and put upward pressure on prices.

Yes - Yes, in extraordinary situations. If a company is using supply issues to charge “surge pricing” and are making huge profits over their cost of operations, then ...

No - Have they done something illegal? If not, then absolutely no. Imagine how out of control such an arbitrary tax could become if it bec...
