Source: Reuters

  1. Summary
California saw a second mass shooting in three days on Monday, this time in a small town south of San Francisco called Half Moon Bay. The suspect appeared to have attacked two separate locations: four victims were found at a mushroom farm, while three died from a shooting at a nearby agricultural facility. It is unclear as of Monday night how or whether the locations are related.

San Mateo County's Sheriff's Office said the shooter, a 67-year-old Asian man, drove to the sheriff's office and turned himself in shortly after the shootings. He reportedly has been cooperating with authorities. A "semi-automatic handgun" was found in his car.

A motive has yet to be established. Sheriff Christina Corpus said it appears the suspect worked at one of the businesses. A city councilwoman said all the victims were Chinese farmworkers. David Pine, president of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, said that while California has some of the strictest gun laws in the U.S., "more must be done."
