    Six people, including three children, were killed in a mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday. The 28-year-old shooter was killed by police. He carried detailed maps of the school and at least two assault rifles and a handgun. Covenant is a private Christian school with about 210 students ranging from preschool to the sixth grade.

    The shooter, a transgender man who was first identified by police as a woman, is believed to have been a former student at the school. Police said it is not clear when the shooter may have attended Covenant. They also said he acted alone and had no criminal history.

    Police searching the shooter's home said they found a manifesto and a plan for the shooting. Police found that his plan mentioned another Nashville school, but the suspect concluded it had too much security to be a target. Two of the three guns carried to the school were obtained locally. Police believe the suspect entered the school by shooting through a door.
