How is the Trump indictment impacting the emerging GOP presidential race?

Source: YouGov and Yahoo! News

  1. Summary
Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson entered the GOP 2024 presidential race on Sunday. Hutchinson, a vocal critic of Donald Trump, said that the former president should drop out of the race following his recent indictment. Hutchinson said while he does not "like the idea of the charges," the case taints the presidency. Hutchinson said he thinks Trump's support will falter eventually.

Hutchinson stands in contrast to other GOP presidential hopefuls. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who announced her candidacy weeks ago, called the indictment "revenge by some political people," and former Vice President Mike Pence, who is considering a run, also said Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg was "playing politics."

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is widely expected to announce his candidacy soon, made similar criticisms of the indictment and pledged that Florida "will not assist in an extradition request," despite the fact that Trump is expected to surrender anyway.

Do you support requirements that private insurance plans cover preventative care?

419 votes, 45 comments

Context: Judge strikes down provision in Affordable Care Act that requires some preventative care coverage.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - Insurance has always been a pool of coverage that people don't use all of. To allow people to pick & choose isn't sustainable when you have plans that depend on many people paying for risk coverage. Financially it only makes sense to cover cheap preventative screenings rather than risk expensive treatment. When we deny someone a screening and they get cancer we all end up paying for the cancer. Whether they were insured by our same plan or not, we pay.

No - Requirements? No, absolutely not. Would I prefer an insurance plan that covered preventative care over one that didn't? Absolutely yes. I don't...

Yes - It will cost less in the long run if people get things checked out before ...
