Niche Site Lady - This is new and scary

For years I ummed and ahhed over whether to start a YouTube channel for my travel blog.

These are the reasons I wanted to do it:

👀 Increased visibility: YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world, so I could reach a much wider audience.

💰 Money: It has the potential to make even more than my blog makes. Many YouTubers make waaay more than $50k per month.

🧳 Press trips: Brands give free travel to YouTubers with under 5k subs all the time. This definitely isn't the case for bloggers. Brands want video.

🚀 Boost my blog: Google is saying you must show real experience, and video is the best way to do that.

👱🏽‍♀️ Connect with the audience: People trust people. Video is the easiest way to show your personality.

🎓 Learn a new skill: Video production skills will always come in handy, no matter where my journey takes me.

So with all those things running through my mind, I'm like 

COME ON! YAY! LET'S DO THIS! WOOHOO! GONNA SMASH IT! YEEEEEAH!

But then, I start to think of all of the reasons why I shouldn't do YouTube!

Like these...

🧠 Steep learning curve: There's a lot to learn, and the first videos are never good.

🕓 Time-consuming: It takes me about 8 hours to make each 8 -minute video. That's a LOT.  

😥 Risk of negative feedback: It can be hard to put out videos that you know aren't good. And mine are still pretty bad.

But overall, I DO believe that starting a YouTube channel is a good idea for many niche site owners, myself included.

So I'm committed.

I just need to get better and get faster.

Then I can start to make money from this.

I'm almost at the stage where I can apply for monetisation...

For a few months now, every evening, I've been watching YouTube to learn how to do YouTube.

Some of my favorite channels are:

• Think Media

This has been working okay for me, but just as with learning about niche website building, you only really get one or two actionable tips from each video.

I think this is even more of a problem in the 'learn YouTube' space than the 'learn blogging' space.

Because if there's one thing that YouTube teachers know,

It's how to keep you watching their videos for as long as possible!

That's their goal, and they do it very well.

I looked into paid courses to speed things up and found a whole range priced between $18 and $5,600.

Yikes!

Just as I was mulling it over,
