Changes to Shops and Shopping Ads on Facebook and Instagram

Facebook plans to introduce Shops ads to more US businesses, making it easier for customers to purchase directly from ads. 

They will also consolidate all ad automation tools under their Advantage portfolio. 

Additionally, they aim to make it simpler for US businesses to set up a Shop with in-app checkout options. FB will test new features like ratings, reviews, and dynamic product pages to enhance customer connections. 

In order to focus on these tools, the company will no longer support Shops in the US that link to a website after April 24, 2024. 

Beginning on August 10, 2023, "all other markets will no longer be able to host a Shop on their FB or IG page or use product tagging in posts."

  • UGC Prompt in Shops: When you “tap through on the prompt, Instagram’s system will then highlight IG posts that your business has been tagged in, which you can then associate with your product listings.”
