How will new federal funding to expand internet access be allocated?

Source: Associated Press

  1. Summary
On Monday, President Biden announced how $42.5 billion from his 2021 infrastructure law would be spent to improve high-speed internet access. The funding will be allocated to all 50 states and Washington, DC, but it is primarily aimed at the 7% of the population that lives in underserved areas. The administration compared it to Franklin D. Roosevelt's effort to bring electricity to rural America.

Each state will get at least $100 million. 10% of the funds will be set aside for "high-cost allocations" where geography makes establishing broadband access more costly. The remaining funds will be distributed proportionally, based on the number of unserved locations in a state.

States can begin submitting plans to get the funding in June. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration will allocate the funding based on the Federal Communications Commission's map of broadband access. Some, including state officials in Vermont and Nevada, say the map overstates broadband access.

No - I have always been pro-choice. However I have been voting Republican since I could vote. When I was first able to vote the older people in my family assured me that this was a right that couldn't be taken away. I am now starting to vote Democrat even though I disagree with many of their views.
