What incidents are prompting concern about the health of two senators?

  1. Summary
Questions about the health of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) arose Wednesday after he froze for 15 seconds during a press conference. McConnell, who is 81, was led away but returned shortly after and said he was "fine." His aides claimed he was feeling lightheaded. "He said he's fine and I take him at face value. You heard him [...] yesterday. He was very crisp in his answers," said GOP Sen. John Thune.

McConnell suffered a concussion and broken rib after falling in March, and remained away from the Capitol for a month after that. He also fell during a trip to Finland in February, though a fellow GOP senator who was present said the terrain was icy and anyone could have fallen.

In a separate incident, Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, 90, on Thursday appeared to be confused during a committee hearing. When senators were asked to state their votes on a defense appropriations bill, Feinstein began reading a speech about the bill. A staffer interrupted her to correct her, as did the committee chair, who told her "Just say 'aye.'"

Were lawmakers right to seek David Grusch’s testimony on UFOs?

Context: Former defense officer testifies government has recovered alien spacecraft that it reverse engineers.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - Best case, we learn something incredible. More likely, worst-case Grusch is lying and Congress looks a bit silly. But Congress already looks silly to everyone, so that hardly feels like a loss. I think it's pretty cool that we can air out all these things on record, in public, and the alternative of ignoring stuff like this is bound to increase conspiracy theories.

Unsure - This is a waste of time unless they stay focused on potential UFOs that originate in a country on Earth which could be a t...
