What can be expected of the impeachment inquiry into President Biden?

Source: Associated Press

  1. Summary
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday announced the opening of an impeachment inquiry into President Biden. A House impeachment inquiry is the first formal step towards impeachment, but is designed to gather evidence and does not guarantee an impeachment vote. The inquiry will allow the House to subpoena Biden's bank records, among other things.

McCarthy said House Republicans have uncovered credible allegations of misconduct that warrant further investigation, noting that $20 million in payments were directed to Biden family members or associates and that 150 business transactions were flagged as "suspicious" by US banks. There is currently no hard evidence of corruption by President Biden.

McCarthy's announcement contradicts his recent comments that he would only open the inquiry with a vote, leading to questions as to whether there is majority support for the inquiry. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also unilaterally launched an impeachment inquiry in 2019. An eventual impeachment vote would be unlikely to pass the Senate.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - Quick, name a Google product that isn't substantially similar to what it was 10 years ago. Gmail? Google Docs? Maps? Search? YouTube? Android? Google doesn't innovate. It uses its dominant positions in search and video to squelch potential competition. It uses the cash cow of search to subsidize bad products, losing billions of dollars a year on those products while simultaneously sucking all the oxygen out of the marketplace for good products.

No - Reading through the articles on the topic I can't find any rational reason that Google's market power is harmful to consumers in any way. Their search engine...
