Why was Texas' attorney general acquitted of all impeachment charges?
Please click Display images in your email app to view this email properly

Source: Associated Press

  1. Summary
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton returned to office on Sunday after being acquitted of 16 impeachment charges by the state's Senate. Paxton was accused of abusing the power of his office to cover up an extramarital affair, with former advisors testifying that Paxton pressured them to help a political donor under FBI investigation.

As the GOP dominates both legislative chambers, Paxton's impeachment is seen as part of a struggle between moderate, establishment Republicans and more conservative members. Paxton, who often backs the party's most conservative policy issues, has called his House impeachment a sham dominated by liberals. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who presided over the trial, is calling for new limits on the impeachment process.

Paxton's alleged mistress did not testify despite it being highly anticipated. A Democratic state senator said that the Senate's eight-hour deliberations were sincere, but when it became clear there were not enough votes to convict Paxton, some senators changed their minds.

No - We’re just scratching the surface of capability. I remember when smartphones and the internet and other emerging technologies were “overhyped”. I’m curious to see what new and innovative places AI will take over and do far better than the status quo.
