Google Analytics 4 dropped and a lot of our data and reports are unfamiliar. But, there is a way to see some things you saw in Universal Analytics.

Customize Your Reports

Found in the Explore tab, Explorations lets you build reports customized with your own channels, metrics, time ranges, segments, and comparisons.

These custom reports are more time-consuming to set up than the ready-made reports but they're also incredibly powerful and once built, you can save them to use over and over again.

Today's tip was inspired by Zack Duncan, a featured speaker at Social Media Marketing World.

Creating Generative Art: ChatGPT With DALL-E 3 vs. Adobe Firefly 2

It was a Saturday morning, and I'd heard that DALL-E 3, the new image generation tool from OpenAI, had rolled out for ChatGPT4. So I decided to give it a try.

Recently, Adobe rolled out Firefly 2, and I was really impressed with its ability to make art.

So I opened up my ChatGPT 4 and pasted in this prompt: Draw an image of a man with wings flying over the beach in San Diego.

The reply was, "I'm sorry, but I cannot create hand-drawn images. However, I can describe how such an image might look or help you visualize it…" It went on to suggest I should commission an artist.

Clearly, I was expecting a different response. Then, I remembered that new features in ChatGPT 4 were hidden under the top menu. I found the Beta version of DALL-E 3 and reentered the prompt.

A little bubble popped up and informed me it was creating my images. It took a fairly long time.

So, I jumped over to Adobe Firefly 2 and entered the same prompt. A few seconds later, four images were revealed to me.

Not bad, I thought. Then, I pulled up the ChatGPT tab, and my results were ready.

The output blew me away. So I zoomed in, and this is what I saw:

ChatGPT enhanced the prompt to create a much better output for me.

"Illustration of a man with majestic wings, gliding effortlessly over the waves crashing on a popular San Diego beach, with children playing and people sunbathing below."

The level of detail of the DALL-E 3 images was superior to the Firefly ones. The people looked like real people. There were no half legs, as clearly my Firefly output shows above.

There were some little mistakes when I zoomed in, like a sailboat between two waves and houses on the sand, which don't exist in San Diego. But overall, it was VERY impressive.

The magic seems to be in the detail of the enhanced prompts from ChatGPT.

For example, "Oil painting of a silhouette of a man, his wings outstretched, flying against the backdrop of a setting sun in San Diego beach, palm trees lining the horizon" was another of the enhanced prompts.

I decided to take this oil painting prompt and paste it into Firefly. Here is what happened:

That output leaves a bit to be desired when compared to DALL-E 3.

Back to ChatGPT. I asked, "How can I modify the above images?"

It said:

  • Changing the color or style of certain elements.

  • Adjusting the time of day or lighting in the image.

  • Adding or removing specific objects or features.

  • Altering the perspective or angle of the scene.

  • Requesting a different artistic style, like making it look more like a watercolor painting or a sketch.

So I gave ChatGPT the following prompt: "On the third image, make it a watercolor and set it during the middle of the day."

Here is what it came back with:

The prompt was changed to: "Watercolor painting of a man with wings outstretched, flying high above a San Diego beach during midday. The sun is directly overhead, casting a bright light on the sand and waters below, with palm trees lining the horizon."

I am really impressed with DALL-E 3, which is part of ChatGPT4. It's for sure worth experimenting with.
