Instagram turned 10 years old this week! 🎉 Ten years ago, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger released Instagram into the world. This week marked Instagram's tenth birthday and, to celebrate, Instagram added a hidden birthday surprise that lets you switch up the icon for the app to retro and colorful app icons.

Changing up the icon is relatively easy. Just make sure you have the latest version of the Instagram app, and head over to your account Settings. Once you're there, pull down on your screen until the emojis pop up, and then you should be taken to the icon options menu — as shown in this video.

From adding hashtags to launching Reels, Instagram has come a long way since it first launched 10 years ago. Let's look back in time and see how far the app has come from October 6, 2010.
