The Apparently Parent Podcast

Like many of you, I'm a parent. Of-course as the overly-trodden cliche goes, parenting is both psychotically challenging and rewarding beyond measure. It's because of that first part that we often seek some outside counsel in order to improve our parenting skills, so I was happy to discover this fantastic podcast by way of this ad placement.Β

The Apparently Parent podcast is hosted by Clinical Psychologist and Parenting Counsellor, Eran Katz. In his show, Eran explored a wide variety of parenting challenges and combines his skills as a psychologist to provide a mindful and unique approach to the art of parenting. Specific scenarios and issues are tackled throughout and I found myself digging into the back catalogue of useful episodes to increase my own learning as a parent. But it's not just Eran's perspective you'll be listening to, through interviews with innovative parenting experts, Eran brings in a host of educators to help you deal with all those rugrats in your midst.Β

High Low Brow

Just because much of our western pop-culture, is decidedly, by any subjective measure, low-brow, that doesn't mean you can't turn a high-brow approach to mocking it, analyzing it, and discussing it for all its worth. That's the approach the two hosts of this entertaining podcast take. And yes, it's fairly new, with only 10 episodes so far, but the show has come out with a bang and is dripping with future potential.

Hosts Amanda Scriver and Danita Steinberg tackle topics as wide ranging as the allure of cults, toxic celeb culture, fan fiction, food media, fat phobia, and more! If you're interested in today's pop-culture landscape, this podcast is for you! Also, great name for a podcast, kudos on that.

SCIENCE

Drilled

Crimes against the environment. They're ongoing and they're part of the reason we're in the situation we're in. This fantastic podcast takes a seasonal approach to talking about the true-crime affairs of climate change and the often corporate perpetrators that commit them. The first season looks at the original of climate denial and that's probably a good place for you to start if you're going to get into the podcast.Β

WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork

I'm going to cheat this one time and leave the official description of this podcast for you to consume as its the perfect summation of what this show is all about. If you're into hearing about nonsense, corporate fuckery on a scale rarely seen, you should listen to this show.Β

The founders of WeWork thought they were on the brink of making history. The company was valued at $47 billion dollars, it was ready for a huge IPO, and its charismatic CEO Adam Neumann thought they were going to change the world. Adam had a prophet-like vision for WeWork that he sold to some of the world’s savviest investors β€” but did his vision ever match the company’s reality?

When The Music Stops

Consider me to be amongst the crowd of people who are highly skeptical when it comes to anything related to Cryptocurrency and Blockchain. I know there's a lot of potential with these technologies, but the entire industry has smelled like a giant Ponzi scheme in one form or another. Of-course I could be wrong, but I'm not the only one that thinks that.

Skeptics have started to come out of the woodwork, and one such skeptic is Aviv Milner whose podcast explored the Blockchain bubble to ask what will happen when the music stops. What damage is being done in this almost entirely unregulated market? From NFTs to Finance pump tokens, this podcast is a great look at the reality of that world.Β
