You don’t analyze 1000 Google My Business accounts and not learn a thing or two, which is why it’s awesome for Sterling Sky to have shared what they found from the best-performing GMB accounts.

The roundup? Here are the 5 things top GMB accounts had in common:

1. GMB accounts with a COVID-related post were most likely to have the most clicks, followed by offers.

​
​

Although this is temporary, right now, any posts related to COVID + your business are at the top of the knowledge panel- whatever that update may be.

This update beats out any other images and also shows up on Google Maps. Ensure that you update your COVID updates every 28 days, as they disappear after this cycle.

2. Titles that had all capital letters were rarely in the top-performing GMB accounts; make sure all your titles have proper sentence structure.

Posts with titles, not written in all capitals, got double the amount of clicks and conversions.
​

3. Organic images (not stock photos) on average got 5.6x more clicks. Also, images with text in them performed better than just organic images alone, with almost 4x more clicks.

4. Posts with emojis got twice as many clicks than posts that had no emojis.

Google Lens has been around for a while since 2017, and I’m talking about those glasses that mysteriously disappeared as though it never happened.

But now, we have reason to care.

In their latest news update, Google has released their ‘Shop the moment lens’ feature.

If you have the sudden urge to spend money on something right in front of you, you can now use Google Lens to search for the most similar product online to buy.
​

But wait, there’s more.

Not only is this available on apps like Instagram and images in your gallery, but also in real-time, in ‘real life.
​

Google announced that starting soon (whatever soon means for Google)

iOS users will see a new button in the Google app to make all the images on a page searchable through Google Lens- whether it’s a desk or shoes.

Lens will also be on Chrome, on your desktop, allowing you to select text, images or videos without leaving the page you’re on.

Powered by Google’s Shopping Graph, Google will provide real-time data or products, inventory and merchants. So if a user is looking for “cropped jackets,” the search results will yield a series of choices with colors, styles and information from local shops and style guides.

With in-person shopping on the rise, Google is launching their “in-store” search filter. So, if you’re searching for a “kids helmet,” you can filter by ‘in-stock to see what is available from nearby stores.

It seems that marketers will need to pay attention to their ‘in-stock updates and adapt more so to image marketing with Google Lens (particularly for eCommerce).
