BUY LIST UPDATE: One stock added to the BUY LIST yesterday. I’m being careful with this play while aiming for value, reliability, & future growth.

THE MARKET IS OVERSOLD: There are plenty of oversold stocks on the market. The Russian invasion of the Ukraine will get priced in quickly! However unless we begin sanctioning China, I don’t see a reason for many equities to be trading so low. Fortune favors the bold in this market. And there is plenty on the BUY LIST to start from. Buy in slowly, … very slowly … choose carefully, & safe trading!

RUSSIA UPDATE: Russia expanded their invasion of Ukraine last night. Sanctions on Russian petrochemicals are a common sense measure. Indeed Putin laughed at the previous tranche of sanctions (having already anticipated & mitigated them). So the likelihood of Biden/NATO sanctioning Russian oil & natural gas is high, but not a certainty. Sanctioning Russian fossil fuels will 100% without a doubt raise the worldwide price of oil (WTI Crude just hit $100 bbl). If Russian petrochemicals are sanctioned, the US will need to pick up the slack. And even this is unclear … given that the Biden Administration blocked ALL drilling on federal land as recent as two days ago. So what does this mean? If Russian oil is sanctioned the price at the pump will explode. If Biden continues to refuse to unleash energy production in the U.S., the problem will only worsen. And the cost of everything will go up further than it already has.

China, on the other hand, has already proved that they are willing to pick up the slack on Russian sanctions. Just today they announced that they have lifted restrictions on Russian wheat & barely imports. If Biden/NATO fails to substantively sanction Russia for the invasion of the Ukraine, the chances that China will invade Taiwan go up exponentially. The Chinese will assess any weakness to sanction Russian petrochemicals as a weakness to sanction Chinese exports in the event China gets even more aggressive in the South China Sea. And the world, especially the US, is much more dependent on China than it is on Russia. And if China gets aggressive, we will remember fondly the days when we had a measly 7.5% inflation. Let that sink in for a bit.

Headwinds Ahead: I have a responsibility to warn my subscribers that bullish companies are going to be increasingly hard to find in this environment. I therefore owe it to you to scrutinize my picks more than ever as a result of REAL headwinds. The quick turnarounds we were accustomed to in the past are simply not going to happen in this economy. A swing that may take a month or two last year may take a quarter or two this year. Therefore I think it prudent to buy in slow & only average down when it hurts. Most companies remain profitable, but an adjustment in long term valuations & expectations are necessary. I will trade accordingly.
