Switch Weekly

Issue 276— April 03, 2022

Eiji Aonuma

Hey, here's your update on the week in Nintendo — issue #276 of Switch Weekly.

Biggest news from the past seven days has to be Zelda getting delayed into 2023. Aonuma confirmed the news in a video that I've linked below.

Other than the Zelda delay, the end of E3 as we know it was confirmed. No in-person or digital event. What 2023 holds for E3 remains to be seen. Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest will return.

Ok, so I was trying to hold off on buying Kirby as the backlog is real, but I failed. ๐Ÿ˜… I picked it up earlier and the week, and it really is a joy. I've been playing it in short bursts of one or two levels at a time, and I'm currently around 25% of the way through. It's proving to be a real charming and creative platformer (looks like it has plenty to keep completionists busy too). Drop me a message (just hit reply) if you grabbed it and let me know your thoughts, alternatively here's a Twitter thread you can jump in on and reply to.

Next week there's nearly 30 games coming to the Switch including the new LEGO Star Wars and the Chrono Cross remaster. The full list is in the issue below.

Thanks to all of those who checked out the State of Switch survey results, the response has been excellent. If you enjoyed reading the report why not get me a coffee to show your support. There's also a thread here on my Twitter account too which runs through some quick highlights — any shares on that are much appreciated.

Finally, for the month of April the Switch Games Club will be playing EarthBound. Details here on how you can join us

That's all from me.

Cheers โœŒ๏ธ

โ–ถ Launch timing update for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel  Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma confirms that the BotW sequel is being pushed back into next year to make the "game's experience something special". Not a surprise really, and I think many saw it coming. 2023 already has its GOTY.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Class-action suit hinges on whether kids can sue Nintendo — The mums in this Joy-Con lawsuit seemingly can't proceed, but what about if the kids take on the House of Mario? Either way, this controller issue isn't going away for Nintendo — I just wish the company would have chosen to get out in front of it and sorted it years ago instead of actively trying to fight what is still a widespread issue.

Earthworm Jim 2 and Dig Dug 2 come to Nintendo Switch Online — New titles added to Switch Online — I didn't even know there was a Dig Dug sequel, so I'll check that out. Oh, and there's a little PSA here on Earthworm Jim.
