Hey there,

As Steve Jobs once said, “design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

At Intercom, we use simple design systems that solve complex problems for our customers. Why reinvent the wheel when people rely on established digital patterns to carry out their tasks online?

When you think of the word “settings” for example - what icon springs to mind? Typically a cog, a wrench, or a tool of some sort. We try to default to existing design conventions, but if those don’t exist, or if they’re not good enough, we create something new that does solve the problem. Knowing when to follow common design patterns and when to innovate is one of our biggest strengths.
