In his most recent AMA, Adam Mosseri was asked why the platform seems to be stunting the reach of photo posts, critically impacting the growth of photography-based accounts.

Mosseri acknowledged that changes to the algorithm had overly prioritized the reach of video-based posts earlier this year, and noted that efforts to address the issue have now ‘rebalanced’ the reach of Reels and photo-based posts.
