Strategizing for Single Page SEO 🤔
If you're curious about how single-page SEO stacks up to multi-page setups, take a look at this piece on the Ahrefs blog.

Multi-page is often preferable because: a) single-page websites come up short when it comes to displaying expertise, and b) the lack of content negatively impacts keyword targeting results. Plus, even if you take your link-building seriously, the lower amount of backlinks acquired is less than ideal. Still, there are going to be cases where a single-page site makes sense, like with MVP versions of a site and/or use as a simple short-term solution/placeholder.

→ Google I/O was last week but its buzz keeps buzzing. The new "SGE" (Search Generative Experience), which attempts to integrate the chatbot experience into search, is possibly Google's boldest change to the classic Search system, remains imperfect but still holds obvious potential: "Using AI for instant gratification in cases like these seem tailor-made for Google’s massive performance-based advertising and commerce machine…"

→ If you’re in digital marketing, there’s a decent chance some portion of your professional life depends on Google. With this in mind, scanning the "100 things Google announced at I/O 2023" could be a valuable way to spend some time. It does go beyond the SGE, but that may be the most important part.

→ The Google Search Advocate team dropped some Best Practices for news sites specifically. You’ll never guess the main emphasis: focus on boosting your E-E-A-T levels. But, other than this, useful insight on using structured data and dealing with outbound links properly, as well as effectively implementing paywalls is also offered.

→ Meta's new ad delivery process engages its Meta Lattice model architecture, claiming to boost Meta's ad performance system on a wholesale scale by improving its ability to infer user responses efficiently.

Big changes continue to roll in at Bing. You'll find that: images are being offered in chat responses in Google's attempt to enhance the visual element of search; answers on many topics have been optimized; Copy & Paste has been improved for formatted text; and, finally, that you can format text when entering your prompts in Bing Chat.

→ Bard is finally citing its sources (more) correctly and also getting better at summarizing. Nice.
Hot Tip of the Week: Cleaning Your Data 🧼🫧
This piece on cleaning your data (and the disadvantages of not doing so) is worth a scan. Data cleaning is "removing corrupted, non-relevant, duplicate data. It can also involve fixing data with incorrect formatting, which is often the case."

Basically, this is a tidy little piece of actionable SEO strategy you can easily and effectively implement.

→ This Gizmodo article takes a look at how Meta + other social media platforms have been not only going hard on their short-form video features, but actively using the potential of a TikTok ban to bring influencers to their platforms. Partnered with new monetization features on Meta for more and more creators, and similar developments with YouTube and other platforms, this seems like a promising strategy. Best to optimize beyond TikTok (even if the ban doesn't end up coming through).
