Bladderwrack is a form of seaweed rich in iodine, magnesium and vitamin C.

Although the science is far from clear, proponents claim that supplemental bladderwrack can help treat thyroid disorders, inflammation, heartburn, anxiety and more.

Bladderwrack can also be applied topically, which may help soothe irritated or itchy skin. Because of this, it’s now used as a natural ingredient in many natural lotions and body butters.

What's next:
Bladderwrack is part of the “food grade beauty products” meta trend. These products are marketed as having natural, organic, and even edible ingredients.

Other “food grade” beauty brands and products include Botanicals cosmetics, Gleamin face masks, and murumuru butter.

Overall, the global natural cosmetics market is expected to rise to $54.5B by 2027.

Topic #2

Carrd

Carrd is a SaaS tool for building one-page sites for portfolios, “about me” pages, or simple lists of links.

It’s designed for people who don’t yet have a website. As well as for those with multiple profiles they’d like to point traffic to (since many social media bios only allows one link).

Carrd was launched as a one-person side project in 2016, and grew organically from there. Then last year, Kim Kardashian West shared a Carrd website of Black Lives Matter resources and the service went viral.

Today, Carrd reports that 2 million websites have been created using their platform.

What's next:
Carrd is part of the “micro-websites” meta trend.

Influencer marketing, freelancing and side hustles are all growing trends in their own right. (According to an Upwork study, a full 36% of the US workforce now freelances.) Which is leading to increasing demand for micro-website tools.

Competing micro-website builders include Linktree, Flowpage and Bio.fm.

Topic #3

Cloudlifter

Cloudlifter is a line of microphone boosters.

Also called “mic activators”, these products boost the signal of microphones and help filter out ambient noise.

Cloudlifter is one of the best-known lines of mic boosters, primarily because it was first to market. AMZScout estimates that their flagship product generates $178k per month on Amazon alone.

What's next:
Cloudlifter microphone boosters are largely riding the growth of podcasting equipment in general.

104 million Americans listen to podcasts on a regular basis. And there are now an estimated 1.5 million podcasts (with over 34 million episodes).

Other growing podcasting tools and trends include podcast hosting, podcast advertising, podcast kits, podcast show notes, the Blue Microphones Yeti and Descript.

Topic #4

Plausible Analytics

Plausible Analytics is a privacy-first website analytics tool.

It offers many of the same basic features as Google Analytics, but without personal data collection or cookies.

According to the company, this means customers using it don’t need to use a “cookie consent” message on their websites in order to be GDPR compliant. (Unless they’re using other tools that do require it, of course.)

The early-stage, bootstrapped startup has a self-reported $15K MRR.

What's next:
Plausible Analytics is part of the “private everything” meta trend.

According to a study by KPMG, 56% of Americans say they want more control over their personal data.

Other examples of this meta trend include virtual private networks like Mullvad VPN and Nord VPN, the Pi-hole network-level ad blocker, the Brave browser and ProtonMail email.
