Five Great New Podcasts

Welcome to the 132nd edition of Find That Pod.

Before we get to this week's recommendations, I want to tell you about a service I recently came across that I think is pretty unique in the audio space. No, it's not a podcast per se, but it is a fantastic idea. The service is called

So what is Well, think of it as a unique way to capture the stories of your parents or grandparents lives. Tales has professional interviewers who speak with your loved one to uncover the stories you never knew. Then the conversation gets edited into a professionally-produced, private podcast episode that your family will cherish forever. It’s kind of like if NPR interviewed your loved one about their life and you got to keep the recording all to yourself (or share with the whole family).

Sounds like it could make for a pretty great holiday gift. Check them out.

Here are this week's recommendations.

Strange Air

I loves me a good audio drama! And that's exactly what Strange Air is. It's a uniquely creative approach to telling a story that features some heavy paranormal vibes but also features some A-list talent. Starring Patrick Fabian (who plays Howard Hamlin on a little show you might have heard of.... Better Call Saul), who might I add has an incredibly silky voice, the show centers around a single premise.

Ten years ago, Malcolm Smith, the host of Strange Air, a successful radio show about the paranormal simply vanished into thin air during a live broadcast. To this day, no one knows what happened. Now his daughter, Chase Smith, is in her last year of film school and she's decided to make a documentary about her father's disappearance. Spooky vibes and killer storytelling abound in this awesome podcast. Don't miss it!

Dream Power Radio

Dreams. What are they? What purpose do they serve? Are they just our brain's way of clearing out the mental junk? Or are they more profound and can even serve as warnings or prophecies? The science isn't quite settled, though its getting closer. In this podcast, host Debbie Spector Weisman explores all aspects of dreaming including the mysteries of nighttime dreams and the empowering possibilities of daytime dreams.

There is an entire cottage industry of robbing armored vehicles. Especially in the United States of America. This 10-part true-crime series takes a look at some of the most infamous incidents of armored car robberies and frankly, it's a fascinating listen. How do the criminals get away with this shit so often? What fuels these people to take the ultimate risk and how do investigators eventually piece enough together to catch them?

Films to be Buried With with Brett Goldstein

Comedian, actor and writer Brett Goldstein (you probably know him from Ted Lasso) has this really great podcast in which he does deep dives on a variety of movies with his celebrity and non-celebrity pals. It turns out that Brett is a pretty fantastic interviewer and the end-result is a very delightful podcast in which he probes his guests to give him various answers to questions like.... which movie means the most to you? which movie do scared you the most? which movie do you want to be buried with so you can show it to everyone in the afterlife?

For ten years, a serial arsonist terrorized Southern California, burning down businesses in broad daylight. Four people were murdered. Then, a manuscript for a novel leads investigators to the last person they would have ever suspected. This is a story of perhaps the most famous serial arsonists in history. And let me tell you, this shit is wild.
