Marketing Junto | The Future Of Social Media

Marketing Junto | The Future Of Social Media

The future of social media is uncertain at best. This has only been more true since Elon Musk's attempts at buying Twitter. Right now that's in limbo (thank goodness), but there are two camps with social. One camp is the closed ecosystems of Facebook (et. al), Twitter, Reddit, and LinkedIn. Then there are the open ecosystems of the fediverse (Mastodon, PixelFed, etc.).

One side sells your data (the closed ecosystems) and the other is open source and freely distributed (no data is shared with advertisers unless noted).

The future if social media will always have both camps, closed and open. But will either prevail? I don't have that answer. All I know is that both have a place online.
